Life's a Beach

We just returned from our first family beach trip. We spent the week in the Outer Banks with my family. Hadleigh (and Daisy) were troopers on all the flights and thankfully we didn't cause too much of a ruckus. Hadleigh loved everything about the beach. She enjoyed the sand (only tried to eat it a few times) and didn't mind the cold water. She went swimming, built sand castles, saw the turtles, slept through all the fireworks, and went on lots of walks with Gammy and Pops. We had a great time and are counting down the days until next year. Wish we lived a little closer to the coast...the "beaches" in Arkansas just aren't the same!

Hadleigh caught the balls as her dad and aunt played beer pong...will they ever grow up?!?

Somehow she ended up with an Odor Genie sticker on her bottom. Maybe the marketing people will be calling me soon for a new ad campaign.
Home again! Look closely at my green beach bag. This is where we found Daisy tonight after we got back from dinner. Think she's ready to go back?

Strenuous Saturday

Hadleigh had a strenuous afternoon lounging in the pool while she watched her dad make a new flower bed and her mom pull weeds. She enjoyed splashing around and eating her beach ball but I finally had to take her out because she wouldn't stop drinking the water. Maybe the cups weren't such a great idea, but at least she has mastered drinking from them!

One thing checked off our mile long list. Now no one can say we don't have any trees in our backyard...we have 1!

Riding dogs and Funny Faces

We had a family outing to the Concert in the Park tonight. Hadleigh had a great time, but every time I tried to take her picture she would make a funny face. She has started crinkling her face and breathing very heavily (like a bull) for no reason at all. It is pretty funny, but a little scary. I hope she only shares this habit in the privacy of our own home! Her dad also tried to get her to ride Oakley...she was such a good sport (the dog, that is).

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the best Dad, Doc, Pops, and Uncle in the world! Wish we could be 4 places at once to share the day with you all.

I don't have any new pictures from the weekend--Christian took the camera with him on his Father/Son fishing trip to Gaston's.

Here's some from last week of Scarlett and Hadleigh playing together. Fun times as always, especially now that Hadleigh can keep up with Scarlett.

Duck, duck, Geese

The other night we went out to feed the ducks and geese. We sat Hadleigh down on the ground in hopes of getting a great picture of her, but once she saw the two geese coming towards her, it was all over. She eventually warmed up them. Well, actually, she realized she could eat the bread herself and that made her happy!

She also passed her 9 month check up last week with flying colors. She weighed in at 17.5lbs (30%) and was 28" (60%). She had a couple of pricks, but overall did pretty well. She has recently started getting very upset when Christian and I leave her. This makes taking her to daycare and going to the gym quite an ordeal. We're hoping that she outgrows this stage quickly, but we've heard it only gets worse as they get older...Great!
Her crawling has progressed. She is no longer doing the "army" crawl and has picked up speed. She is slowly discovering new rooms in the house. The other night, she was in Christian's office and came across the sheep skin rug. I'm not sure what she thought it was, but she freaked out. You would think she would love something so soft. I guess she prefers all the hardwood. She loves practicing pulling herself up. She has had several successful attempts and several wipe outs, but she always recovers very nicely.
She is talking up a storm these days, as well. It usually goes something like this--"giggly, gilly, giggly goo, dilly, dilly, da, doo". She can say and wave "bye-bye" and she'll sometimes wave hello. She loves making a clicking sound with her mouth and is especially into Daisy right now. She talks to Daisy and crawls over to her all the time. Luckily she hasn't pulled too hard on Daisy's ears yet, but I know it's coming. Daisy has been pretty tolerant thus far, but we'll see how much she can take.
Hadleigh makes everyday such a joy!

From wail to whale

Here are some pictures from Hadleigh's first swimming experience. She loves taking baths and splashing in the water, so we figured she'd love the pool. Well, this pool was a little too cold for her taste, so the first few minutes were not so pleasant. The first picture is her reaction to sticking her feet in the water. She finally adjusted and enjoyed floating around in the whale for a little while.

Fun times

Here are some more photos. She is a much happier camper now that she is able to move around on her own.

At an outdoor concert with Tanner and his family. Yea for beautiful weather

Reading about 'So You Think You Can Dance'...maybe she has a secret desire to audition???

Crawling around the kitchen floor.

She has discoved the trash can. She is not interested in what is in it, but what is on it. She loves playing and talking with herself. Don't worry, I use lots of Lysol wipes to keep it clean.
