Breaking News...

There have been reports of a certain 13 month old girl (approximately 19lbs, 30" tall with sandy-colored hair and big brown eyes) seen taking 2 steps without assistance. The media has been alerted and the cameras are on standby for further sitings.
I did not see it with my own eyes, but tonight while I was at a meeting, Christian witnessed Hadleigh's first steps. He said she was standing up the whole time he was reading her a story and then she took 2 steps towards him before plopping down. Hopefully the next post will have some walking shots.

Walking Shoes

Long time, no blog...Last week was pretty uneventful as our family was passing along a nasty stomach bug. We have all recovered at last and are now enjoying the beautiful fall weather. Hadleigh transformed into a very cuddly baby (which is completely opposite her personality) last week when she was not feeling so hot and got spoiled being held constantly. This week has been a bit of an adjustment trying to get her back into walking-mode. No, she's still not walking on her own, but she is getting close. I bought her a new pair of "walking" shoes that have thick soles that help her balance a little better, plus they are really cute! She did great wearing those around today. Below are just a few random shots I took tonight before our walk.

Also, welcome home Aunt Kristen. We are glad you survived your hospital stay and hope you never have to go back (except to have Hadleigh's cousin one day)! Get well soon.

Another win

Hadleigh experienced her first football game this weekend. We took her to Little Rock to experience tailgating on the golf course and War Memorial Stadium. She made lots of friends all around us and loved cheering for the Hogs. We made it through the halftime show and then called it a game at the start of the 3rd quarter. Hadleigh and I left Christian inside while we wandered around the golf course for a bit and then finally returned to our car after realizing it wasn't really our scene! The Hogs just barely pulled out another win thankfully and Hadleigh pulled off a successful first game. Fun times! Madison and Hadleigh enjoying the tailgating festivities together

We called it a night at this point...

Today we got to spend some time with Aunt Shelly and Gary and Cousin Landon at the park. Hadleigh loved playing in the rocks and sliding down the slide. She is so ready for school...she's got recess and raising her hand down pat!

One year check up

I still can't believe it has been a year! Hadleigh had her 1 year check up today and of course checked out perfectly. A few updates...
She weighed in at 18.24lbs (10th percentile) and measured 29.5" (60th percentile)
She now has 12 teeth and is enjoying eating primarily table food
Favorite foods include cheese, grapes, cottage cheese, plums, green beans, turkey, edamame, and cheese (did I mention she loves cheese!)
She doesn't take a bottle at all and drinks whole milk now from her sippy cups only
She can talk up a storm as long as she is not having one of her "shy moments"
She can say car, dog, mama, dada, Daisy, ball, baby, and duck along with a few other words that aren't always quite so clear.
She can make a monkey, dog, and duck sound when asked (most of the time)
Favorite activities include swinging, taking walks in her car or wagon, playing with her fruit puzzle, messing with Daisy, dancing to music, following mommy wherever she goes, and taking great naps (thank goodness for this!)
Not so enjoyable activities...baths
She is not walking yet, but enjoys using her car to get around on her feet. The other day I tried to push her up the street on her car and she insisted on getting off and walking herself all the way to the neighbors house. Getting home was a bit more of a challenge. The downhill slope caused her car to go a bit too fast for her so she really had to work to keep up. It won't be too much longer and she'll be running over to her friend's house.
