Party Girl

Hadleigh has been quite the party girl the past 2 weeks. She has been to 3 birthday parties in 2 weekends. Last weekend was Scarlett's 1st birthday and Spencer's 7th birthday. Hadleigh had a wild time at both parties and even tried a bite of icing when I wasn't looking. This weekend we celebrated Doc's 70th birthday in Little Rock. It was great to see lots of family and friends, plus enjoy the perfect weather.
I'm also proud to announce that Christian ran (and finished!) his second 5k this weekend. He did the Race for a Cure with a buddy of his. I've been trying to get him to run with me for years now, but there were always excuses... Unfortunately, I did not get to run this one with him (I didn't think it would be much fun pushing my huge jogging stroller among 17,000 other runners), but I hope there will be others we can do together.
Below are some pictures from the past few weeks (mostly this weekend). Excuse the crazy layout. I'm not sure what I did, but I can't fix it without having to reload the pics, which takes forever.

Ready for Scarlett's Party...40 degrees in April is just wrong!

Doc and Landon with another amazing cake--Doc is going to Russia in just a few weeks! As you can see, we are still working on the crawling.
She tries to get in position, but she won't kick her legs
out to get going. It's going to happen soon...I feel it
Happy 70th Birthday, Doc!

I think her baby has the Shaken Baby Syndrome now

Hanging out with Abby after a good milk meal.

She still loves driving her car, especially outside.

We're Back

Vacation is officially over...back to reality. Hawaii was beautiful, relaxing, fun, and just overall amazing. Christian returned with a nice tan while I came back with my usual splotchy burn. I really don't understand how someone can tan so easily when they stay under an umbrella the entire time! We spent the week on a small island off of Maui called Lanai. There wasn't too much to do except enjoy the beauty of the island and sip cold drinks by the beach...it was PERFECT. We got some much needed rest (until the red-eye home) and did surprisingly well without Hadleigh, though we missed her tons. Hadleigh had a blast with my parents. My mom taught her Pat-a-Cake--she puts her hands together and says "Pa-Caa"--so cute. She also got her first car which she LOVES to ride around on--watch out Daisy. Below are some pictures from our trip and Hadleigh's week. Not sure what this face means, but I love it

"Check out my 2 pearly whites."

This plane was entirely too small for my liking! Anyone who knows me, knows I don't do well with any type of motion. I'll just say, we landed just in time!

Happy Easter

We had a wonderful Easter here--beautiful, but frigid. We celebrated this morning at church, enjoyed lunch with friends, picked up gammy and pops at the airport, and then ate a yummy dinner with more friends. Hadleigh spent the whole day in her pretty Easter dress just because her mommy liked it so much (thanks Doc)! Below are some pictures from the day. My parents are here from Virginia for the week to spend some true quality time with Hadleigh. Christian and I are headed to Hawaii, so we will be on a blogging hiatus. Next time you hear from me, I'll be the well-rested, nicely bronzed (yeah right) one!

A Twisted Weekend

Well, we had a very exciting weekend to say the least. We packed up early Thursday and flew to Atlanta for the SEC Tournament. We met my parents there and geared up for a long weekend of basketball. Who could have guessed the turn of events that occurred Friday night?! Luckily, Hadleigh and Christian were back at the hotel when the tornado hit. My parents and I were anxiously awaiting the UK game in the Georgia Dome when all of a sudden the roof started moving, lights were swaying, and the crowd silenced to the sound of a train. We really had no idea what had happened until we got word from people watching the game on TV that there was a tornado that hit downtown Atlanta. When the officials finally postponed the second game and allowed us to leave The Dome, we were able to see all the damage that had occurred. It was unbelievable! There was glass and twisted metal everywhere. Windows of cars and buildings were blown out. We even saw a chair from a hotel room that had been sucked out into the street. We are very thankful for small miracles (like overtime in the Alabama/Miss St. game) that kept people inside during the storm. It was truly an unforgettable, indescribable event.

We survived and the tournament went on, though most of the fans packed up and headed home. We were able to get into the games on Saturday at the Georgia Tech arena, thankfully. Christian and I sat on the 3rd row behind the Arkansas bench during the Tennessee game. He did his fair share of coaching/yelling at the team--I'm sure he had a lot to do with our win (so he thinks!). It was fun being so close--that will probably never happen again! Unfortunately, because of our flight back, we were not able to go to the championship game on Sunday. We had a great weekend despite our final loss and the crazy events that occurred in Atlanta. We are glad to be home all in one piece and are making plans for next years SEC Tournament in Tampa. Hopefully mother nature will be more accommodating next year!

Hadleigh in vintage

Since last time...Hadleigh celebrated her 6 month birthday, we took another trip to Little Rock for a birthday party, Hadleigh graduated to the Infant II class at school, we have progressed onto eating dinner in a high-chair, she has acquired a taste for all orange veggies, but is not so keen on green beans yet, her 2 front bottom teeth have poked through (ouch for me!), and she had a great check-up with the doctor. Oh yeah, and she is slowly transitioning to formula with no problems (thank goodness since I already bought loads of it with the coupons that expired months ago!). She weighed in at 14lbs (25%) and measured almost 26" (75%). She is still not crawling, probably because she despises being on her tummy. The doctor said not to worry, so I guess I'll continue to enjoy my non-mobile child while I can.
We have enjoyed a beautiful weekend here (temps in the 70's). Today Hadleigh wore one of my baby dresses to church. I'm sure she looks much cuter in it than I did! She managed to keep it clean all morning as well, which is quite a feat for this spit-up queen. Below are some pictures of Hadleigh this morning after church and the last one is us playing Barbie's with our friend Madison (Hadleigh was only interested in her beads...she'll never be allowed to go to New Orleans!).

The week in pictures

Last weekend we went to Little Rock to celebrate Landon's 9th birthday. Check out the amazing leopard cake below.Hadleigh and the birthday boy--she loves her cousin!
Hadleigh and Chelsea--Hadleigh is eyeing that cake
Hadleigh and Doc sporting their brown shirts. Where are Doc's leopard pants?
"I actually do smile, just not usually for the camera!"
So hungry she is trying to eat anything and everything, so...
...Let's try some squash! Yummy
A little messier than cereal, but not too bad.
Her new favorite toy is the remote. She hasn't figured out how to use it yet, thankfully.Daisy is trying to tell her out to change the channel to Animal Planet.Don't worry, we don't let Hadleigh sit in front of the tv all day. She keeps up with the business world as well. Apparently, there is something pretty hysterical on yesterday's front page of the WSJ.

That about sums up our week. We had a wonderful, very low-key Valentine's Day here. Hadleigh got her 1st Valentine's card from a boy in her class (2 actually)...very cute. Since she doesn't go on Thursdays, she missed out on the big party at school. Hopefully she's not too mad at us for keeping her home!

Sweet dreams

At last, we have reached the milestone we have been dreaming of for months now. Hadleigh can finally put her pacifier back in at night all by herself! We have had 3 nights in a row of not having to get up to replace the fallen pacifier. You can't imagine the excitement Christian and I felt as we watched her accomplish this monumental task on the video monitor from the comfort and warmth of our own bed! To ensure she is able to promptly find a pacifier, we surround her with 5 before she goes to bed each night. Maybe a bit overboard, but we take no risks when it comes to sleep. Below are some pictures of our nighttime routine and, as promised, my works of art from last week.
