We've been busy...

...sewing and painting. It finally set in a couple of weeks ago that we are about to have another baby! So, we have been frantically trying to get things done around the house. It's amazing how unprepared we were compared to when we were anticipating Hadleigh's arrival. We have accomplished a lot over the past 2 weeks, though, and I finally feel somewhat ready.
We decided to use the same nursery for the new baby and move Hadleigh into a new room. Christian painted her new room and all the furniture that goes in it, except for the daybed, which is on order (hopefully to arrive soon). I finally finished all her bedding and curtains and used the leftover fabric to cover a lampshade and nightlight.
We also redid the bathroom that the girls will share. I had never done much to it because I wanted to see if our second child would be a boy or girl . It is still a work in progress, but at least I got the shower curtain and shade done and Christian completed the painting. Here are a few pictures of our progress.

These nightlights were so easy to make and I love the way they turned out. I just hope they don't catch on fire!
We've had a little time for play, too, despite all our hard work. Here are some pictures from the weekend. Hadleigh loved swimming in pool and even went all the way under. It scared her a little, but she was fine as soon as she popped back up. Swim lessons this year should be a blast.

As for me, I'm at 37 weeks and doing well. I've started dilating a little and go back tomorrow to check again. Based on Hadleigh's early arrival, I could go anytime now, but I'm really hoping to make it to June. We'll try to keep the blog posted if there are any updates.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! It is truly the BEST job in the world.
We spent the weekend in Little Rock visiting family and friends. Our good
friends were in a horrible car accident last weekend, but thankfully they are finally all home together again and on the road to recovery. It was sooo good to see them, but wish it had been under different circumstances. Please keep Michelle and Micah in your prayers as they continue to heal.
Since the last post, Hadleigh has graduated up to the next class at school. Apparently the transition didn't phase her at all and she immediately began drinking from a cup (without lid) and doesn't take her paci at all at school (even nap time). She loves school and especially enjoys playing outside. She comes home filthy sometimes! Hadleigh also had her first dentist appointment last week. She had a black spot on one of her teeth which concerned me. Turned out, it was just a stain and came right off. I was so nervous about the appointment, but they said she did great. Granted, she screamed the whole time and I had to hold her arms down, but they were able to do a great cleaning and see everything they needed to. Overall, it was a much more pleasant experience than I was expecting and Hadleigh is now an official member of the Cavity Free Club and will be in the paper in June!!!
Below are photos from our weekend in Little Rock
Ready for church...not quite awake yet
She zonked out after a day of playing with all of her Little Rock friends. Too bad for her, she missed our late night stop at Baskin Robbins!
I think the girls were singing 'Jesus Loves Me' in this one
Maddie was quite the performer

Shower pictures

Saturday a few of my friend hosted a small baby shower for me. Everything was so beautiful and perfect and the food was fantastic, especially the chocolate fountain...they know me so well. I'm so blessed to have such great friends!
Dalicia, Julie, and Karen (the hostesses minus Casey who had to work--gotta love a pharmacist's hours) and Shelly (Christian's sister)

Hadleigh admiring the diaper cake and about to dig into her own slice of cake
I accidentally started to slice the cake before I took the picture, but I thought the cake looked amazing. It matched the invitations that they used perfectly.

Hadleigh got to spend some time with her cousin Landon and Aunt Shelly. She had such a good time following Landon around. She would run through the house calling his name over and over until she found him.

Farm Friends Field Trip

Last Thursday Hadleigh had her first field trip. I think I was way more excited than she was, but she had a blast nonetheless. We went to see and pet all sorts of farm animals and then had a picnic with her class. It was so fun seeing her interact with her friends from school.

One of Hadleigh's fabulous teachers, Miss Anna, trying to get her to pose for a picture...an impossible task

Hadleigh would NOT sit on a saddle. All the other kids loved it, but she refused to do it. I guess horseback riding lessons are out of the question.

After our big day on the field trip, we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous spring weather and grill out dinner at the park. The kids got to run out the all the rest of their energy and we enjoyed a fun and relaxing dinner with friends. I think all the kiddos slept very well that night!

I love this picture. They are such good buddies.Look how Hadleigh is holding Marlee's hand--so sweet. This is her new friend that recently moved from Little Rock. She is such a doll with her full head of curls.

Easter Part 2

We are finally home and finished with all our Easter Weekend activities. It was a whirlwind of a weekend, but a good time was had by all. We started early this morning tromping through a very cold, heavy rain to get to the early service at church. Thank goodness it was crowded so it didn't take too long to warm up! After church, and a very brief nap, we headed to Devin's mom's house for a delicious lunch. Hadleigh joined Ava and the other kids in the egg hunt and then ate her weight in banana pudding...yummy! Thanks Bertrams for letting us partake in your family festivities!!!
After our bellies were full and we were all in need of a nap, we had to rally quickly and head straight to Scarlett's 2nd Birthday party. There, Hadleigh occupied herself with egg dying, cake eating, dancing, and lots of candy eating. Needless to say, we were all on a sugar-overload when we left. On the brink of a meltdown, we got home to discover all the Easter eggs that the Easter bunny had hidden last night that we never had time to hunt this morning. Hadleigh got excited over the first few, then Christian took over the hunt. The last picture sums up how she felt at the end of our exhausting weekend.
We really wish our families could have been here to join in all the fun, but we are so thankful for all our friends that made the weekend extra special. Happy Easter! Thanks Jesus for making it a special day!Look what the Easter bunny brought

Happy Birthday, Scarlett!

Easter Weekend Part 1

Since I've already taken so many pictures this weekend, and it's only Saturday, I decided to go on and post the pictures from last night and today. We started our Easter weekend dying eggs. We were amazed at how well Hadleigh did at this. I was convinced it would be such a mess, but she did great. She got so excited over her first dyed egg that she threw it down and smashed it!
This morning we had an Easter Egg Hunt with her school. Hadleigh was so excited to see all her friends and knew exactly what to do when the hunt began. She even won a prize for guessing the closest amount of jelly beans in the jar (with her dad's help). We will now be eating jelly beans until Christmas, but I'm not complaining!
Our neighbors invited us over for another egg hunt this afternoon where Hadleigh discovered her love for peppermint patties. I was beginning to wonder if she would ever take a liking to chocolate. We ended our day with a yummy pizza from Mellow Mushroom and some playtime over at Scarlett's. Hadleigh wore us out today for sure, but I hope she has enough left in her to do it all again tomorrow (I'm not sure I do)!
